Decision-making in a leadership position may be a difficult task. When decisions must be made all avenues of discussion must be adjudicated to allow the proper course of action to be made in a decision-making process. However, how does one distinguish if the correct decision was made during the time of that particular situation? Well, certain decisions should not be made on the spot. Some decisions must be made over the course of time with all evidence, facts, and alternatives identified.

Decision-making is a difficult and crucial skill utilized during everyday life that people must understand when challenged with daily situations. The contributing factor of decision-making is an overall view of understanding facts and findings in order to have a solution. This topic can be narrowed down since it is a broad topic to be discussed. When making a decision consider these steps: 1. Identify the decision, 2. Gather relevant information, 3. Identify the alternatives, 4. Weigh the evidence, 5. Choose among alternatives, 6. Take action and 7. Review your decision and its consequences. (UMass, 2022).

One final note, in contrast to understanding decision-making, one must understand a leader’s or individual’s position of authority and principles that may factor in when a decision is being made.
