Some of us have gone through trials and tribulations in our life. How people act toward others will define their character and their relationships with others. Narcissistic behavior is a Cognitive behavior that some people use to make themselves feel superior toward those they are trying to control. A good example is the story of a young mother in the grocery store. A young mother in the grocery store was buying some items for her two little girls. The young lady was only in her mid-20 and just by her facial expression, there was a concerned look. The young mother approached the cash register not knowing if she would have enough money to feed her two little girls. The cashier proceeded to ring up the grocery items and gave the final total. The mother did not have enough to pay for her items. There was an older couple in their late 60s standing behind the young mother and offering to pay for her grocery items. The young mother was in tears and thank the older couple for help. While the older gentleman was paying, his wife was talking to the young mother and asked her “Are you ok my dear?” The young mother replied, “I am a single mother trying to do the best for my children, and my ex is a narcissist.”
In our society today, we witness situations like this, but some people are in positions to aid others, and some are not. Some individuals fall victim of narcissistic abuse from others which may be the root cause of certain situations such as the young mother of two.
One final thought, fatherlessness is global and is a common theme. There are men that are going through a similar situation such as the young mother of two, but some parents play the alienation card to gain an alliance with their children. However, that topic is for another day!
