Leaders have a strategical responsibility in an organization which will help and provide organizational structure such as potential growth of employees, cultural setting, and better workers policy. There are different ways leaders may approach certain situations to solve challenges in an organizations. However, determining the correct approach will decide the outcome of the decision which will distinguish success or failure.
When determining the correct decision, a leader must take into account emotional content. What is emotional content in leadership? Emotional content in leadership is understanding the value of emotional intelligences in leadership. How many of us know or have known leaders who made emotional decisions or have been in that leadership position and made a decision off emotions? Yes, I will be the first to admit, I have made decisions off emotions without understanding the value of emotional intelligences in leadership. When an individual thoughts creates feelings, feelings creates emotions, and emotions creates behavior this is called Cognitive Behavior Theory.
In conclusion, there are different ways leaders may approach certain situations to solve challenges in organizations which may influence the correct decision. However, understanding emotional intelligences in leadership and Cognitive Behavior will provide enough justification in any decision making process. Think back when you last saw a leader make a decision off emotions and what was the outcome.
