Sometimes, when we see people, thoughts may go through our minds about what they may be going through. The thought process comes from an individual’s actions derived from their character. Let’s face it: we judge people for their actions or reactions to a situation. However, being judgmental may come at a cost. True story, a man was sitting in Safeway Supermarket with a pushcart full of personal items. There were clothes, books, sleeping bags, and suitcases in that cart. This individual was most likely in his mid-60s and was sitting down eating a large pizza, wearing a gold wedding band on his left-hand third finger. Obviously, this older gentleman fell on hard times, but what do you think other people were thinking? When walking by this gentleman, there was a conversation between two people about how they would never put themselves in that situation and how all things could be prevented. These people were being judgmental, and some things are not preventable. In fact, some things can be out of our control, which makes it unpreventable. Sometimes, our own thoughts will betray us, which comes from being judgmental. A wise man once told a story about the Donkey and the Tiger. The Donkey told the Tiger, “The grass is blue!” and the Tiger informed him, “No, the grass is green!” The Donkey was so persistent and adamant the grass was blue that he continued to argue with the Tiger. Finally, the Donkey informed the Tiger, “We will go to the King and ask him what the true color of the grass is.” So, the donkey and the tiger traveled and arrived at the lion’s castle, where they entered. The Lion asks, “What brings you here in such a timely manner with hast?” The Donkey stated,” Your grace, please inform the Tiger that the grass outside is blue and then punish him for inconsiderate.” The Lion looked at the Tiger and stated, “The grass is blue, and for your inconsideration, I silence you for three years.” The Donkey then turned away and left. The Tiger informed the Lion, “Your grace, but the grass is green, and why am I being punished for this? The King Lion stood up, looked at the Tiger, and stated, “Yes, the grass is green, and I silenced you because a creature of your intelligence should never engage in conversation or argue with a stubborn, unethical, and uneducated creature of that magnitude.” There are many lessons from this story
The Wondering Soul was about a man eating pizza at Safeway Supermarket. We don’t know if he was homeless or what caused his life to take a turn for the worse. Maybe he just decided to live a life of freedom, which is his prerogative, but who are we to judge a wandering soul?
