Special Edition: A Young Man’s Opportunity

When an opportunity presents itself, some people fear taking a chance. People do not get opportunities every day, but when an opportunity presents itself, individuals should be prepared when it does. In one case, a young man saw an opportunity and took advantage. One evening, a young man called his father; the cell phone rang, and the father picked up. The son called his father for advice about going overseas to play football. The father asked, “Is it a legit football team? “The son replied, “Yes, and I think it is a great opportunity to go and play football.” His father told him, ” You’re single, young, smart, and talented. So, you should take this opportunity.” The young man took the advice, and his journey began.

When opportunity allows us to head down a path of the unknown, it leads us into uncertainty, and with uncertainty, fear sets in. We only fear the unknown because it is part of an opportunity waiting to be explored. However, this young man’s opportunity prevailed and catapulted him into stardom. This young man’s name is Devion Young, an overseas Football Player and Rugby superstar. There is much to say about this young man, including his determination, sacrifice, hard work, motivation, dedication, and pride. His continuous efforts to achieve the highest levels of greatness with adversity in his face provide all of the attributes described above.

In closing, when an opportunity presents itself, take the chance and give yourself the opportunity for your talent to flourish because you never know where you might end up and possibly accomplish.

This article is dedicated to my son Devion Onree Young, a Football and Ruby Player, who is a tremendous and talented athlete. I am very proud of him for all his continuing accomplishments and the man he has become.
