Invitation Letter

Dear Potential Participant,

My name is Paul Samuel Young, and I am a doctoral student at Trident University International. I am conducting a research study titled The Effects of Stress and Loneliness on Adult Education Participation Among Black American Men After the COVID-19 Pandemic. The purpose of this study is to explore how experiences of stress and loneliness have influenced the educational journeys and participation of Black American men in adult learning programs following the pandemic in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle or surrounding areas.

Your voice and experience are essential to this research. If you identify as a Black American man aged 25 -55 who participated in or considered participating in an adult education program after the COVID-19 pandemic, you are invited to take part in this study. Participation involves a confidential, semi-structured interview lasting approximately 45–60 minutes which consist of 16 questions. The essential research may be conducted via Zoom, in person or on the phone at a time convenient for you.

Your participation is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time without any penalty. All information shared will remain confidential and used solely for academic purposes. There are no direct benefits or risks anticipated beyond reflecting on your experiences. However, your contribution will help shed light on how stress and loneliness impact educational engagement within the Black community.

If you are interested or have questions about the study, please contact me at:

Email: Paul.young@my.trident.edu

Thank you for considering participating in this important study. Your insight can make a meaningful difference in understanding and improving educational support for Black men in adult learning.
